The May 17 Outreach Meeting is less than two weeks away and we look forward to talk to many of you in person or via WebEx. Today we have updated the program available here, with several presentations by ORCID Board members and staff in the morning, followed by three sessions focussing on funding organizations, research institutions, publishers, and a keynote. It is not too late to register for in-person or WebEx attendance, please use this link.
The ORCID API documents have been updated to include details of the search API. The ORCID search API is based on SOLR, and will support all query syntaxes available in SOLR 3.6, including the following.
- Lucene with SOLR extensions
- DisMax
- Extended DisMax
Details of the API can be found in the Query API documentation here: http://goo.gl/OWMju. The implementation of the Search API will be released in the upcoming 1.0 release of the ORCID binary.

ORCID has appointed Laurel L. Haak PhD, as its Executive Director, it was announced today. Haak joins the not-for-profit organization effective April 9 and will be based in Bethesda, Maryland. She joins the ORCID initiative at a crucial stage in terms of the development of its infrastructure and business model. In April, ORCID will complete the initial phase of its development, with most functionality required for the launch of a beta service later this year now in place. Version 1.0.4 of the ORCID Mock API was released today and can be downloaded at https://github.com/ORCID/ORCID-Mock-API-Web-Application. The only change in 1.0.4 is that it has been updated so that access tokens and new profiles are persisted across server restarts. This will make it slightly easier to experiment with the API. Today ORCID participant The Association of Lithuanian Serials hosted a conference on unique author identifiers in Vilnius, Lithuania. The conference took place in the Lithuanian parliament (seimas) and was perfectly organized by our host Eleonora Dagienė.
