Rob Blackburn, Web Producer. Rob maintains, and provides content for, the ORCID website. He previously worked as a Library Assistant at the University of Sussex, Technical support at an ecommerce provider and as a shiatsu therapist. He likes notebooks and drawing amongst many other things. He has a BA in English and Philosophy. |
Ana Patricia Cardoso, Engagement Lead, LATAM & US. Ana provides coaching to support technical integrations by members in the Americas and ensures that members receive excellent support in the use of the ORCID Registry. Prior to joining ORCID, Ana held several positions in financial areas for companies such as KPMG, Deutsche Bank and AXA Assistance. She also worked for IT department at Tyco-ADT. She is fluent in Spanish, English, French and is currently studying Portuguese. She has a BS in Accounting from the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico and an MBA in High Tech and Industrial Companies Management as an awarded student from Fundación Carolina at the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija in Spain. |
Estelle Cheng, Engagement Manager, Asia-Pacific. Estelle is responsible for growing the adoption of ORCID, engaging with partners across sectors and establishing communities of practice in the Asia-Pacific region. Based in Taiwan, Estelle works collaboratively with the regional team to promote ORCID awareness, build strategic relationships and to support best practices of ORCID implementation across the Asia-Pacific region. Before joining ORCID, Estelle served as the product manager for digital object identifiers (DOIs) at Airiti. Estelle holds a BA in English and a MA in Linguistics from National Tsing Hua University. She has infectious enthusiasm for scholarly communication. |
Pedro Costa, User Support Specialist. Pedro provides first tier support and his main focus is to assist our users in getting the most out of their ORCID records. He is fluent in Portuguese and English, and studied Administrative Assistance and Translation at the Porto Accounting and Business School graduating in 2013. Before joining ORCID he spent five years working for a corporate domain name management company. In his free time, Pedro practices kickboxing and rides his mountain bike. |
Paula Demain, Product Manager. Paula is responsible for gathering, managing and refining the requirements of the ORCID user community, with a specific focus on members and integrators. Paula manages the product roadmap and identifies, specifies and appraises new product features based on market research, stakeholder engagement, data analysis, member feedback and internal need, balancing as appropriate against ORCID’s values. Previously, Paula worked for John Wiley and Sons, Ltd as Business Process and Support Manager, a global role with responsibility for the journal subscription and membership services systems and process support. |
Tom Demeranville, Product Director. Tom ensures our technology is responsive to our community and aligned with our mission. He collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to identify innovation opportunities and manage ORCID’s technical roadmap. Tom most recently served as ORCID’s Technology Advocate, focusing on the needs of funders via the ORBIT project and working with the community via the FREYA project, which builds upon his work for the European Commission-funded THOR and ODIN projects. Before joining ORCID, Tom’s past positions included Technical Lead for the British Library and Senior Software Engineer for Eduserv, where he worked on Federated Identity Management. Tom holds a first class honors degree in software engineering from the Open University. |
![]() Dan Dineen, UX Designer. Dan’s been planning, designing and building all kinds of digital products for almost 2 decades now. Over the years, he’s been a user interface designer, user experience designer, information architect, project manager and occasional front-end dev. He’s happiest when shouting about accessibility, user-centred design, legible typography and flexible grid systems. Outside of the office he can be found playing football, reading comics, running D&D games or skateboarding. But never all at the same time. |
Camelia Dumitru, Senior Java Backend Engineer. As part of the IT team, Camelia develops back end functionality for new features, bug fixes, and maintenance of the ORCID Registry and APIs, and related projects. She has a BS in Civil Engineering from the Technical University of Cluj Napoca, Romania and fluently speaks English, Romanian, Spanish, and a bit of French. When not busy developing applications, Camelia enjoys trekking, dancing, and traveling. |

Ana Heredia, Engagement Lead, South America. Ana is responsible for driving ORCID awareness, promoting adoption and engagement, and building strategic relationships with the government, academic, and publishing communities in Latin America. Previously Ana worked with the publisher Elsevier as a research solutions consultant and a scientific journals publisher. She received a BS in Biology and an MS in Neuroscience from Université Paul Sabatier as well as a PhD in Sciences from Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium), and she was a postdoc researcher at Embrapa and UECE (Brazil). |

Liz Krznarich, Tech Lead, New Projects. Liz leads ORCID's software development process. She manages tech team goals and initiatives, and ensures high-performance operations of the ORCID Registry and other key systems. Liz also serves as ORCID’s front-end developer, leading the design and construction of new user interface features. Before joining ORCID, Liz directed student technology training at the University of Wisconsin and has also worked as a reference librarian, archivist, and graphic designer. She earned a BS in Graphic Design and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Wisconsin. |
Nabil Ksibi, Engagement Lead, Middle East & Africa. Nabil is responsible for fostering ORCID community adoption in the Middle East & Africa. As part of his responsibilities, Nabil supports ORCID members as they develop new and existing integrations and workflows. Previously he worked at Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, covering the Middle East, Mediterranean, and African region. Nabil believes in the ORCID mission and seeks to build collaboration across the region. From Tunis and now based in Johannesburg, Nabil is passionate about Engineering, Art, and Humanitarian work. In addition to English, he is fluent in Arabic and French. |
Emilia Kutrovska, Operations Project Manager. Emilia’s role is to lead projects to implement and optimize internal processes as well as to administer ORCID’s internal portfolio of information tools and systems. Before joining ORCID, Emilia managed the operations of Transformation Services and Presales departments at Pythian. Emilia comes to ORCID with experience from the high tech, not-for-profit, private, and public sectors. She has a BA in Arts from University of Ottawa and is a Certified Agile Project Manager. Emilia speaks French and Bulgarian, is currently studying Greek and is also an ESL teacher. |
Camillia Lu, Engagement Lead, Asia-Pacific. Camillia works with the ORCID community in the Asia-Pacific region and is fluent in English, Japanese and Mandarin. Based in Taiwan, Camillia builds regional partnerships to promote adoption of ORCID and establish Communities of Practice. Prior to joining ORCID, Camillia served as the Business Development Manager for an online ticket platform and led the company to become one of the main ticket platforms in Asia. Camillia has a BA in Economics from Taiwan University and a MBA from Waseda University. |
Paloma Marín-Arraiza Engagement Lead, Europe. As part of the Engagement Team Paloma supports ORCID members and consortia in Europe to develop new and existing integrations and workflows and to promote ORCID adoption. Before joining ORCID, she worked in research libraries in Germany and Austria, most recently she was information manager for persistent identifiers at the TU Wien (Austria). Paloma holds a degree in Physics (EQN Level 7) and a Master´s degree in Scientific Information and Communication from the University of Granada (Spain). She got her PhD in Information Science from São Paulo State University (Brazil). She is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, German and English and speaks Catalan at a conversational level. In her free time, Paloma enjoys knitting and crocheting, lifting weights and open-water swimming. |
Gabriela Mejias, Engagement Manager, EMEA. Gabriela is responsible for developing the community adoption of ORCID. She onboards and supports institutional members as they build and upgrade their integrations and engages with the wider community delivering training and presentations. Before joining ORCID, she worked in the fields of recruiting, marketing, and operations. She has a degree in Social Communication from the University of Buenos Aires. She speaks Spanish, English, German, and French. |
Leonardo Mendoza, Front End Developer. As part of our Open Source Team Leonardo specializes in UI development and JavaScript frameworks. Before ORCID he worked as Full Stack Developer in many other projects. Leonardo has a BS in Computer Science from the Tecnológico de Costa Rica and is fluent in Spanish and English. |
Brian Minihan, Engagement Lead, Asia Pacific. Based in Hong Kong, Brian has a background in Information and Library Science and China Studies, and works with ORCID members in Oceania, Hong Kong and India as well as communicating the ORCID mission throughout the Asia Pacific region. Before joining ORCID, Brian was a Scholarly Communications and Collection Management Librarian at Hong Kong Baptist University, where he was an advocate for open scholarship in Asia. He has also been a Systems Librarian at Innovative Interfaces and a Research Associate at the University of San Francisco’s Ricci Institute for Chinese-Western Cultural History. |
Angel Montenegro, Tech Lead, Registry. As part of our Open Source Team, Angel is in charge of supporting existing ORCID infrastructure, helping the member services team in tech-related issues, and building new features for the ORCID registry. Angel has a BS in Computer Science from the University of Costa Rica and is fluent in Spanish and English. |

Andrej Romanov, User Support. Andrej provides first tier support to researchers. Prior to joining ORCID, Andrej provided internal Citrix support at Barclays Groups Operations Lithuania. Andrej has a BSc with honors in Music Technology, having graduated the University of Hertfordshire in 2014. In his free time he writes music, experiments with audio-visual installations, shoots film photography, rides his bicycle and explores nature.

Shawna Sadler, Engagement Manager, Americas. Shawna is responsible for developing the ORCID community in the Americas and managing the regional Americas team: North, Central, and South America. Based in Canada, Shawna focuses on continuing the adoption and integration of ORCID within the research communities and organizations of the Americas. Shawna joined ORCID in 2019 with a long history of introducing ORCID to research communities and implementing ORCID in research management systems. Shawna has worked at universities in Canada and Australia, and in her spare time she can be found snowboarding, mountain biking, and trying to keep up with her quickly growing children. |
Bernette Sherman, Writer/Editor. In this role Bernette supports and engages with the ORCID community and members in the United States and Canada. Prior to joining ORCID, Bernette spent more than 12 years in community and public health, including several years conducting applied research at organizations such as Georgia State University’s Georgia Health Policy Center, Emory University, and Kaiser Permanente. Bernette holds an MPA in Policy Analysis and Evaluation and a BBA in Management from Georgia State University. Most recently she’s been busy as a writer, with published works of fiction, inspiration, poetry, and even music. In her spare time she continues to write, publish, perform, and enjoy her family. She has two children and speaks some conversational Spanish. |
Will Simpson, Director, Technology. Will is responsible for ORCID’s technical strategy, infrastructure, and scalability, and manages the technology team. WIll was a software consultant on the pre-launch team, joined the ORCID technology team after launch, and served as tech lead before his current role. Previously, he worked as a developer for John Wiley & Sons Ltd specializing in content management systems. While at Semantico Ltd, he helped to create DawsonEra, the largest supplier of electronic books to academic libraries in the United Kingdom. Will graduated in 2000 with a first class honors degree in Physics from University College London, and is also a qualified teacher of English as a foreign language. |
Giles Westwood, Senior Devops Engineer. Giles is an experienced engineer and manager in operations with over 15 years of experience architecting and maintaining infrastructure, following principles of configuration management, infrastructure as code and immutable infrastructure. Having worked as a developer and in support he has a full view of all aspects of operations, maintenance and incident handling. When not wrangling computers he likes outdoor sports like snowboarding and mountain biking. |
Katrina Willis, Communications Specialist. Katrina helps develop and implement ORCID’s communications strategy across all regions and communities. Prior to joining ORCID, Katrina spent over 20 years as a marketing professional in the tech industry and served as the Executive Director of a public education foundation. She has a BS in English from Ball State University, and her debut novel, Parting Gifts, was published in 2016. When she’s not spending time with one of her four grown children, Katrina enjoys reading, writing, traveling, hiking, and discovering new restaurants. |
Ivo Wijnbergen, Director of Engagement. Ivo is responsible for our community adoption and sustainability strategy and its alignment with our core strategies and values. Ivo is based in the Netherlands, and joined ORCID in May 2018, from Microsoft, where he was responsible for Data Insights for Northern Europe, and previously worked for Yahoo! managing the German-speaking region clients and cross-functional projects with Yahoo! Labs. Ivo speaks Dutch, German, English, and Spanish, and has a wife and two daughters with whom he spends most of his spare time with. |
